Meet the “Glendale 49ers.”
In yet another twist to a bizarre year, the San Francisco 49ers will play two “home” games at State Farm Stadium.
The 49ers made an announcement Nov. 30, shortly after learning Santa Clara County—where the team normally plays—was temporarily banning sporting events.
“The San Francisco 49ers have come to an agreement with the National Football League and Arizona Cardinals which allows the 49ers to host their Weeks 13 and 14 home games against the Buffalo Bills and Washington Football Team at State Farm Stadium,” said the announcement.
The 49ers will “host” the Buffalo Bills for Monday Night Football on Dec. 7 and then the Washington Football Team on Dec. 13 in Glendale.
The team thanked “the Cardinals organization, State Farm Stadium and league officials.”
The 49ers were still figuring out if they would practice in the Bay Area and fly to Arizona for games or set up camp with practices as well as games here over the next few weeks.
