Help Peoria define

new district boundaries

The city of Peoria has started the federally mandated redistricting process to redraw district boundaries. Peoria must submit the proposed city council district boundaries by the end of 2021.

New city council district boundaries will be in effect for the August and November 2022 elections. Although the delay in census data reporting will shorten the timeframe for the redistricting process this year, Peoria residents will have many opportunities to participate in the process. Beginning in October, there will be in-person and virtual open house events to learn about the redistricting requirements and the online mapping software that will be used to help rebalance the city council districts.

Meetings are held from 5 to 7 p.m., unless otherwise noted:

•Monday, Oct. 11, at Copper Hills Church, 27035 Black Rock Boulevard.

•Tuesdays Oct. 12 and Nov. 16, Rio Vista Recreation Center, 8866 W. Thunderbird Road.

•Wednesdays Oct. 13 and Nov. 17, Peoria Community Center, 8335 W. Jefferson Street.

10 a.m. to noon Thursdays Oct. 14 and Nov. 18, Pop-Up Peoria, 9828 W. Northern Avenue, Suite 1750. A virtual link will be available for this meeting at peoriaaz.gov/redistricting.

Monday, Nov. 15, Copper Hills Church, 27035 Black Rock Boulevard.

Take a survey about

parks, rec, libraries

Peoria’s Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities Department is conducting a survey to establish priorities for the future development of parks, recreation and library facilities, programs and services.

The information obtained in this survey will be used to update the city’s parks and recreation master plan. Public input and ideas are important. The planning process relies on receiving input from residents to form city goals and objectives for the next decade. With this plan, the city strives to enrich the future of the community and have a positive effect on Peoria’s quality of life.

To take the survey, visit peoriaaz.gov/survey. Complete the survey by Friday, Sept. 10, and enter to win a $50 Amazon gift card.
