A 45-year-old Peoria man died from injuries sustained in a crash at the intersection of northwest Grand Avenue and North 85th Avenue in Peoria at 3 p.m. April 10.
He was identified as Steven Thomas, who was driving a white sedan.
The accident involved a silver, four-door sedan and a white four-door sedan. According to police, a driver of a silver sedan was traveling southeast on Grand Avenue with a green light.
The white sedan was traveling northwest on Grand Avenue, approaching North 85th Avenue, and failed to yield to traffic as it attempted to make a left turn onto North 85th Avenue, striking the driver side of the silver sedan.
The silver sedan’s driver sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The intersection was closed for several hours during the investigation but was open for normal traffic at approximately 8:30 p.m.
The Peoria Police Department’s Traffic Services Unit is still investigating this incident. However, police said Thomas may have been impaired. No arrests have been made, and no citations have been issued.
