Fireman training and fighting burning fire

"Fire crews quickly worked together to suppress the fire and to check the residence for any victims."

The American Red Cross said a family of four was displaced by a Peoria fire early Monday, Jan. 13.

Fire crews from Peoria, Sun City and Glendale responded to a Sunday-night fire at a home on 81st Avenue and Cholla Street, according to Michael Selmer, a spokesman for the Peoria Fire-Medical Department.

There were no injuries, Selmer said.

“First arriving units reported a working fire consumed the garage and was possibly extending into the residence. Fire crews quickly worked together to suppress the fire and to check the residence for any victims. Approximately two thirds of the residence was damaged by the fire and no victims or injuries were reported,” said Selmer.

He said the cause of the fire is under investigation.
