Students and faculty, along with members of Peoria Rotary Club, will celebrate International Peace Day 9:30 a.m. Sept. 21 in front of the auditorium/cafeteria at Centennial High School, 14388 N. 79th Ave.
Peace Day will be celebrated across the globe that same day.
Peoria Rotary Club dedicated the Peace Pole, with on-campus support from Centennial High School Interact Club, Sept. 21, 2016. The pole was purchased and installed by Peoria Rotary Club in honor of the Rotary Interact Club.
On the pole’s four sides is the message, “May Peace Prevail on Earth,” written in four languages: English, Spanish, Arabic and Vietnamese.
At that time, assistant principal Adam Wolfe said, “This aligns with our school mantra, creating a culture of achievement through Coyote pride, honor, integrity and excellence. It’s a good symbol and a place for reflection and a reminder for our students.”
Partners include the Peoria Unified School District; the Rotary Clubs of Peoria, Peoria North, Laughlin, Mesa West, Phoenix West, Sun City del Sol; the Rotary e-club of Arizona, the Rotary e-club of the Southwest USA, and an anonymous donor.
