Avista Senior Living has announced the appointment of Ami Mendez, certified nursing home administrator and assisted living manager, to the Sun City West memory care community.

From hiring educated, compassionate caregivers to offering tasty meals, a quality memory care program and the success of the community starts at the top. In order to enhance the quality of care at Avista Senior Living at Sun City West, Mendez has been awarded the Administrator position, effective immediately.
Mendez is the recipient of the American College of Healthcare Administrators Eli Pick Facility Leadership Award given for consistency in exceptional outcomes. She has been in Arizona skilled nursing and elder care services since 1991.
She holds a master’s degree in business administration and enjoyed her past role as an adjunct faculty member at Ottawa University, where she educated master’s level students on the dynamic of organizational theory and behavior. Having served in multiple health care settings over the past 25 years, she has invaluable experience, including multiple deficiency-free surveys, multisite supervision, home health, skilled nursing, assisted living, for-profit, nonprofit, memory care and CCRC environments, all with consistent award-winning outcomes.
She is an Arizona native and has three children: Alec, Zachary and Alyssa. She has a 5-year-old granddaughter, Mylie Alexis. “Aside from my children and granddaughter, serving in my profession has been the biggest blessing of my life,” Mendez said.
