Phoenix resident Frank Vaquera Jr., 28, faces attempted murder charges after a late-night Peoria shooting.

Frank Vaquera Jr. faces attempted murder and aggravates assault charges after a late-night shooting outside a Peoria bar.

At 2:20 a.m. June 14, 911 dispatchers received a call about a man pointing a gun at others at Coop’s Bar and Grill located near 85th and Peoria avenues.

The caller said the man fired the gun and drove away in a black SUV.

Officers arrived on scene and found a 24-year-old man with a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and remained hospitalized on June 15.

Other officers saw a black SUV driving westbound on Peoria Avenue and attempted to stop the suspect vehicle. The driver refused to stop, according to police, and crashed behind a business near 91st and Peoria avenues. 

Police arrested Vaquera, 28. The Phoenix resident faces attempted murder, aggravated assault and unlawful flight from law enforcement charges.
