Second Saturdays returns to Old Town Peoria
Second Saturdays, a free, family-friendly event that takes place the second Saturday of each month, returns Oct. 9 and runs through May 14.
Second Saturdays happens on Jefferson Street and 83rd Avenue in Old Town Peoria from 5 to 9 p.m.
The themes differ each month. October’s theme is the Great Pumpkin, which will kick off the series of events and the fall season. With a changing lineup of activities and entertainment monthly, Second Saturdays will feature a night market curated with a mix of special vendors, outdoor games, art installations, pop-up restaurants from local gourmet chefs, as well as live music and a variety of performers.
Second Saturdays will adhere to the guidelines set in place by the CDC, the city of Peoria and the Maricopa County Health Department.

Get tickets to the Peoria Country Fest
The Peoria Country Fest is Saturday, Oct. 9, at Pleasant Harbor at Lake Pleasant. The festival will feature live country music from David Nail, Bayou Bandits and Ivan Harshman.
There will be food trucks, a beer garden and live bull riding. The event runs from 2 to 10 p.m. Tickets are $25, and admission is free for children 12 years old and younger. A limited number of VIP tickets are available for $75. VIP ticket holders will enjoy a separate seating area and bathrooms, private cash bar and meal. Ticket prices do not include entry into Pleasant Harbor, which is an additional $7 per vehicle. Festival attendees are encouraged to buy tickets in advance. WVAM showcases watercolorists
Through Wednesday, Nov. 10, the West Valley Art Museum is featuring work by the Contemporary Watercolorists of Arizona. This notable group is comprised of 40 of the state’s top artists highlighting the many nuances and variations possible in water media.
It is a juried members showcase. The WVAM Art Gallery is on the first floor of Peoria City Hall, 8401 W. Monroe Street, in Old Town Peoria. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and noon to 6 p.m. Thursdays.

Peoria to host blood screening event
The city of Peoria is partnering with Healthwaves Corporate Wellness to provide laboratory screenings for Peoria residents. On Tuesday, Jan. 11, at Peoria City Hall, 8401 W. Monroe Street, residents can register for blood screenings between 6:30 and 10 a.m. Advantages of having blood draws are:
