Western Maricopa Education Center (West-MEC) — a public Career and Technical Education (CTE) District — hosts STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) summer camps for students 9 to 14 years old in June and July.

“What I think is so great about the summer camps at West-MEC are how fun and engaging the hands-on activities are. There are a variety of camps, so students can try one or try them all. It’s our hope that they will find a new interest that could lead them to a future career,” said Alva Tovar, West-MEC community coordinator.

Camp topics include:

• Robotics

• Engineering

• Media and film

• Forensics

• Science

• Girl’s leadership
