Less than a month after two brothers were electrocuted and died at Lake Pleasant, a woman died at the Peoria lake.
Christine Fiorini, 53, was floating near a pontoon boat Aug. 1 when she became unresponsive, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Department. She reportedly felt ill earlier in the day.
According to Joaquin Enriquez of the MCSO, others in her group checked on her multiple times. She appeared fine until “they say she was shaking in the water and was unresponsive.”
She was using a flotation device and did not appear to go underwater, Enriquez said.
“CPR was administered, and she was later transported by ground to a Peoria Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased,” Enriquez said.
“Lake patrol detectives responded and assumed the investigation, which indicated an unknown medical event occurred while Christine was in the water.”
He said there is no indication of foul play or drowning.
“This case is pending further investigation and results of autopsy examination,” Enriquez said.
