The Peoria Police Officers Association’s annual “Shop with a Cop” event starts at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14. 

This event is organized and brought together by the fundraising efforts of the P.P.O.A., along with the support of several community partners and the Peoria Police Department. 

According to a press release, the event “allows police department employees to take children from our community to a local department store to purchase gifts of all kinds for

themselves and their families for the holiday season.”

The meeting place is Peoria Community Center, 8335 W. Jefferson Street, Peoria.

Children and officers will have breakfast and visit with Santa at Chick-Fil-A, 16657 N. 83rd Avenue.

After that, officers will caravan the children in police vehicles with lights and sirens going into the Target parking lot. At Target, police and the kids will shop and wrap gifts.

The event concludes at 10:30 a.m.
