Abrazo Arrowhead Campus and its satellite, Abrazo Arizona Heart Hospital, are included in Best Hospitals 2020-21 released last week by U.S. News and World Report.
Abrazo Health Chief Executive Officer Brian Elisco said the honor “validates the incredible work by physicians and staff that we see every day in our hospitals. This year has been especially challenging as we navigate through the novel coronavirus pandemic, but we strive to provide excellent care for all.
“We continue to invest in our ability to provide the highest level of care for the Glendale community and provide innovative cardiovascular care for the entire state of Arizona.”
Abrazo Arrowhead Campus earned high-performing rankings for five adult procedures and conditions:
Abdominal aortic aneurysm repair.
Congestive heart failure.
Colon cancer surgery.
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
The evaluation of Abrazo Arrowhead Campus also includes data from Abrazo Arizona Heart Hospital, a satellite of the Arrowhead Campus. Abrazo Arrowhead landed in the top five Phoenix metro area hospitals, according to U.S. News.
Ratings in procedures and conditions focus on typical Medicare patients, and eligibility is based on the number of patients treated. Rankings were generated by evaluating data in a variety of medical specialties and procedures for nearly 5,000 hospitals across the U.S.
Serving Glendale, Peoria and the Northwest Valley since 1988, Abrazo Arrowhead Campus is a teaching hospital. It is home to Abrazo’s General Surgery Residency and Internal Medicine Residency programs, which help bring new physicians to the community.
“This recognition is a reflection of the remarkable work by our employees and physicians on behalf of our patients,” Elisco said.
