Radio station 98KUPD and Musically Fed are teaming up to help roadies, who also are out of work due to the stoppage of concerts and events.
The “Adopt a Roadie” campaign includes food drives for consecutive Wednesdays at select Safeway and Albertsons, and drive-thru distribution to support Musically Fed in its mission to provide essentials to local live music and event workers.
Partners include #DrinkInAZ, Jack Daniel’s, Sweet James and Safeway/Albertsons Nourishing Neighbors Community Relief.
The food collection campaign runs through March 26 and culminates in a drive-thru event hosted by Rhino Staging and Video.
Ninety-eight families with members who are the stagehands, audio and visual techs, riggers and forklift drivers will receive boxes filled with dry goods collected during the campaign, as well as produce and protein provided by Resurrection Street Ministry.
Financial support from Nourishing Neighbors Community Relief allows Musically Fed to provide the food for the 98 families. With an average of six people in a family, this will provide meals for approximately 600 people.
The collection times include 4:30 to 6 p.m. March 3 at 3800 W. Happy Valley Road in Glendale, and 4:30 to 6 p.m. March 17 at 12320 N. 83rd Avenue, Peoria.
Families in need of assistance can call 480-951-1882 to secure their spot for the distribution on March 27. For details, listen to Fitz from 2 to 7 p.m. weekdays, or visit 98kupd.com/adopt-a-roadie.
