Belia “Billie” Huerta Florez, 84, of Glendale, the matriarch of the Florez family - mother and grandmother - will be truly missed by all. She went home to be with our Lord.
Mrs. Florez was born in Cottonwood, Ariz., and was a lifelong resident of Glendale. During her lifetime, she worked 22 years as a farm laborer, at Gruber’s Spring City Knitting Co., International Metals, and Carnation Dairy, where she joined the Teamsters Local Union 104 in 1976, and at Foundation for Senior Living. But nothing gave her more pleasure than working at the Peoria Community Center as a cook, where she prepared congregate meals and the Meals on Wheels program until she retired.
Mrs. Florez is survived by her five children: Mary Florez, Larry Florez, Randy Florez, Betty Nunez and Elizabeth Gonzalez; 15 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 8 to 11 a.m. Aug. 26 at West Resthaven Funeral Home, 6450 W. Northern Ave., with interment to follow in West Resthaven Cemetery. Condolences may be sent on West Resthaven’s website at www.dignitymemorial.com/west-resthaven-funeral-home/en-us/index.page.
