Mayor Cathy Carlat announced Huntington University as the Mayor’s Business of the Month for April.
Huntington University opened the Arizona Center for Digital Media Arts (HUAZ) in August 2016 in the P83 District.
As a liberal arts college, HUAZ offers undergraduate programs specializing in animation, broadcast media, film production and graphic design. With many students representing the Peoria Unified School District, enrollment is surpassing projected goals.
Huntington’s 120-year-old philosophy of education aims to foster meaningful student connections that translate to a strong sense of community and culture of caring.
Jeff Berggren, director of Arizona Operations, and the HUAZ team have developed connections with residents, businesses and organizations in the Valley, resulting in a variety of partnerships and student-led work with local nonprofits and organizations, including videography for Bloom 365, End the Stigma, Heart for the City and Soldier’s Best Friend.
Early this year, Huntington’s hands-on, student-led work received national recognition at the 2018 Broadcast Education Association Festival of Media Arts. Out of thousands of entries submitted by hundreds of different colleges, Huntington University placed second in the nation with 13 awards. One of the awarded videos was a promotional video for the P83 District.
