Businessman with a Briefcase

Calling all Peoria businesses! Join Peoria chamber members and nonmembers in a free mixer Tuesday, August 13.

Welcome back to another edition of Business Briefcase! This week’s edition is packed with new information on what’s new in Peoria.

This week we’ll examine expansions, nonprofit grants and the usual Peoria Chamber events, so let’s get right to it. Here’s the news!

HOPCo, or Healthcare Outcomes Performance Company, is a vertically integrated musculoskeletal outcome management company based in Phoenix, but with offices in Peoria, Sun City, Surprise, West Phoenix, North Phoenix, Mesa, Gilbert and Scottsdale. Recently, it expanded nationwide to Jacksonville, Florida, with the creation of HOPCo Southeast Specialty Care Network LLC. This expansion is due to the partnership between HOPCo and Southeast Orthopedic Specialists (SOS) of Jacksonville. The new location will be called HOPCo Southeast Specialty Care Network. HOPCo’s team is thrilled for this expansion and is excited to partner with SOS, according to HOPCo’s vice chairman and director of national physical integration, Jason Scalise.

“SOS is the perfect first partner with HOPCo in Florida,” Scalise said. “Both organizations have a long history of commitment to quality and reproducible clinical outcomes. I can’t think of a better partner with which to launch this program. We are excited about the interest we have seen from other groups in the region as well.”

The president of SOS, Dr. Brett Puckett, is also excited for the partnership, saying it will help the betterment of SOS’ services.

“At SOS, we have always aggressively championed innovation that delivers value to our patients,” Puckett said. “We are confident that this partnership with HOPCo will accelerate our ability to do so and provide a tailored platform to deliver reproducible quality and growth opportunities in our region.”

Moving on, OneAZ Credit Union plans to award $60,000 to local nonprofits through the Community Impact Grant Program. While this isn’t related to Peoria alone, any nonprofits are encouraged to apply. With the application, nonprofits are to submit a summary of how the grant will benefit the organization. Grant applications are due August 25, and nonprofits may request grants between $1,000 and $3,000. For full details and the application, visit
