Mayor Cathy Carlat is proud to award State Trailer RV & Outdoor Supply as the Mayor’s Business of the Month for January 2018.
State Trailer RV & Outdoor Supply is not your average retail store. In fact, it humbly claims the title of Arizona’s largest RV accessory superstore.
Located at the northeast corner of 83rd and Peoria avenues, State Trailer was the first participant in Peoria’s Old Town Commercial Revitalization Program. To make the most of the program, owner Ray Hult purchased the Peoria Town Center, vacated long ago by Walmart, and State Trailer became his first tenant. Since then, Hult has worked to advocate for Old Town Peoria and bring life to the center by welcoming events and celebrations that bring residents together.
It was clear from the beginning that Hult wanted to be involved in the community and give the center a sense of place. On any given weekend, the parking lot of Peoria Town Center will be hustling and bustling. State Trailer partners with the Peoria Firefighter Charities to host events such as the Fire It Up Charity Car Show and the High School Fire Science Muster, where local high schools come together to compete in various fire-related competitions. They have also connected with the City of Peoria’s Somos event and attracted family friendly, amusement style gatherings to the area.
With roots in Salt Lake City, State Trailer has been in business for more than 90 years and has been operating in Peoria since 2015. This one-stop shop carries a full gamut of outdoor supplies, from solar panels to hitches, and wiring to appliance parts. In addition, there are 12 large bays, six indoor and six outdoor, where certified mechanics address RV service needs. The RV component is what sets State Trailer apart from other outdoor supply stores, according to Hult. He describes his business as the home improvement store for RVs.
To enhance his commitment to Old Town, the icing on the cake came when he installed a landmark, 43-foot clock tower in the middle of Peoria Town Center. Thanks to Hult, this majestic tower stands to signify the heritage of Old Town Peoria, which he considers “a special place and a special time in Arizona’s history.”
