The Fiesta Bowl will remain presented by PlayStation after extending their agreement with the College Football Playoff for six more years, including the Fiesta Bowl hosting CFP semifinal match-ups in the 2022-23 and 2025-26 seasons.

The agreement ensures the Fiesta Bowl will host four CFP semifinal games in the first 12 years of the CFP. In the other eight seasons, the Fiesta Bowl features two top12 teams as assigned by the CFP selection committee.

“This is exciting news for the Fiesta Bowl organization and our Board of Directors, Yellow Jacket Committee, volunteers, fans, community partners and sponsors,” Fiesta Bowl Executive Director Mike Nealy said. “Our extension with the College Football Playoff reflects the year-round work that enhances our legacy as a first-in-class college football bowl organization. Creating innovative experiences and driving economic growth for Arizona is our mission, and being a part of the CFP helps achieve that.”

As part of the CFP since the inaugural 2014-15 season, the Fiesta Bowl hosted the 2016-17 CFP semifinal, with Clemson posting a 31-0 win over Ohio State, and will host the 2019-20 CFP semifinal. This year’s game will be at 11 a.m. Jan. 1 at University of Phoenix Stadium.

“The Fiesta Bowl has provided a quality experience for the student-athletes and fans for many years, including the first four seasons of the CFP, and we know that will continue,” CFP Executive Director Bill Hancock said. “The entire state of Arizona has fully embraced the opportunity to be a part of this very popular event and to showcase the unique opportunities that the Fiesta Bowl offers to visitors.”

Over the first four seasons of the CFP, reports say Fiesta Bowl drove $1 billion in economic impact, including the 2016 CFP National Championship, and the organization contributed $2.75 billion in economic impact over the last 12 years. In addition, the Fiesta Bowl has contributed $10 million to the Arizona community over the last seven years, including $2.5 million this season alone — the most charitable giving of any college football bowl organization.
