Sound the alarm

  • 1 min to read

When Debbie Lesko says she wants to do something for education, alarm bells should go off.

Lesko has been a veritable wrecking ball to public schools, spearheading the privatization movement in Arizona, approving budgets that siphon increasing amounts of money away from public schools, and disrespecting teachers and districts at every turn.

Don’t be fooled by her new “friend of schools” campaign. She’s been well financed by anti-public school groups and her agenda hasn’t changed. Her brilliant idea is to dismantle the Every School Succeeds Act and to put the state in charge of federal dollars for education. Let that sink in. Arizona has a horrible record of managing and improving education. Lesko’s bill is just another stealthy attack on public education for the benefit of privatizers and profiteers.
