The three Glendale library branches provide free activities for fun in — but mostly out of — the sun this August. Locations include the Main Library, the Foothills Branch Library and the Velma Teague Branch Library. Wild Wednesday
Youths can enjoy a variety of opportunities for creative expression, with something new each session. Wild Wednesday meets in the Storytime Room from 4 to 5 p.m. Aug. 8 for a back-to-school craft. While the first-come, first-served program is designed for children ages 5 to 11, younger children may attend if accompanied by an adult. Larger groups must take one adult for every five children who attend. For more information, call 623-930-3537.
 
Button making
Teens are invited to use discarded library books and comics to create one-of-a-kind buttons for themselves or others. The class is 6 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 13 in the large meeting room. For more information, call 623-930-3537.
 
Empowering Women in Business Series: Paula Wilson
Paula Wilson, founder of Arizona Livescan, will share her journey from proof of concept to growing over 40 fingerprinting locations throughout the state. The event runs 6 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 14 in the auditorium. Registration is requested. For more information, call 623-930-3530. Glendale Public Library has received funding as participants in an Arizona State University Entrepreneurship + Innovation initiative to increase inclusion in entrepreneurship. ASU E+I recently won the Kauffman Inclusion Challenge for the initiative.

Terrific the Tooth puppet show
Presented by the Great Arizona Puppet Theater, this cute, funny new puppet show is open to all ages from 11 to 11:30 a.m. Aug. 8 in the Roadrunner Room. Terrific the Tooth is a super-hero who helps a young boy learn how to take care of his teeth and to enjoy a trip to the dentist. Each child gets a goody bag with a new toothbrush. Foothills College Fair
Parents and teens who have questions about college can attend the Foothills College Fair to meet representatives from local schools, attend seminars to help answer questions, and more. The fair is open to teens of all ages and their parents 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Aug. 18 in the Roadrunner Room. For more information, call 623-930-3830.

Make & Take craft
Children are invited to pick up a make-it-yourself craft at the Youth Desk anytime between Aug. 6 and 31 during regular library hours. All supplies will be provided. Crafters younger than 6 years old will need an adult helper. For more information, call 623-930-3437.
 
Teen/Tween Craft: superhero magnets
Youths can make superhero magnets during the class, where all supplies are provided by the library. The class, geared toward ages 10 to 18, is from 1 to 3 p.m. Aug. 11. For more information, call 623-930-3437.
 
Anti-bullying for kids
The Maricopa County Attorney’s Office offers a hands-on anti-bullying presentation for youths ages 7 to 12. The session is from 6 to 7 p.m. Aug. 16. Youths can find out what bullying is, how to handle a bullying situation and the role of bystanders. Attendees will also create a craft project using kind and caring terms.
