Voters have many choices in the Primary Election

Peoria voters will have plenty of decisions to make this election season.
On everyone’s ballot will be governor, secretary of state, attorney general, state treasurer, superintendent of public instruction, state mine inspector, corporation commissioner, U.S. senator, U.S. representative District 8 and clerk of the Superior Court. Depending on where in Peoria voters live, they will see state senator and representative in District 21 or 22 and justice of the peace and constable in Arrowhead or Manistee Precinct.
Additionally, all voters will see mayor and voters in the Acacia, Palo Verde and Pine districts will see City Council candidates on their ballots.
The primary election is Aug. 28. Any council candidate who gets more than 50 percent of the votes will win outright; otherwise a runoff election will be held on Election Day. The top vote getters from each party in the state, federal and legislative races will face off on Election Day, which is Nov. 6 this year.
Early voting for the primary begins Aug. 1. The deadline to mail back early ballots is Aug. 22, and early voting ends Aug. 24.

Steve Farley
Steve Farley was first elected as a state representative in 2006 and as a state senator in 2012. He now serves as Senate assistant minority leader and ranking Democrat on the Finance Committee, as well as member of the Appropriations and Joint Legislative Budget committees. He has fought to increase teacher pay and reduce class sizes. He has worked to create good paying jobs, provide affordable healthcare, ensure exemplary public safety and bring world-class transportation choices to Arizona. He is a small-business owner and father of Amelia, 23, and Genevieve, 19. He is engaged to Kitt Leonard, a Tempe native who works in IT at Tucson Medical Center. He is a well-known artist and graphic designer who invented a new way of converting photographs to glazed ceramic tile and has since completed numerous mural projects around the U.S. He has managed his own public art and graphic design business since 1991.

Kelly Fryer
Kelly Fryer is a CEO, community leader, former minister and mother. Born in Hammond, Ind., a mill town on the outskirts of Chicago, Fryer was the first in her family to graduate from college, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in international studies with a focus on economics and political science from Valparaiso University, and two theological graduate degrees. She is CEO of the YWCA Southern Arizona and has become a voice for economic, racial and social justice in the state. Previously, she was ED of Arizona List, working to elect women to public office, and she founded and served as CEO of A Renewal Enterprise, a national consulting firm offering strategic visioning and leadership training. In 1989, she was ordained in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, where she served as senior pastor of two growing churches and as assistant professor of leadership at Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minn. She is the author of dozens of books and articles. Fryer and her wife, Tana, have three grown children and one granddaughter, and live in Bisbee.

David Garcia
At 17, David Garcia enlisted in the U.S. Army. He is a professor in the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College at Arizona State University. He has served as a research analyst for the state Senate and has led the Arizona Department of Education as associate superintendent. He married his high school sweetheart, Lori, a fellow Mesa High Jackrabbit. Together, they have two daughters who attend public schools.


Kevin McCormick
Kevin McCormick moved from Ohio to South Phoenix to take a sales job 16 years ago. He is running on the platform of paying teachers what they deserve without taxing income, property or food; legalizing the adult use of marijuana; pardoning nonviolent offenders; eliminating head taxes on new jobs; and opening up better healthcare choices.


Ken Bennett
Ken Bennett is a fifth-generation Arizonan. He was born in Tucson and lives in Prescott. He and his wife, Jeanne, have three children and four grandchildren. He has an accounting degree from Arizona State University and is an Eagle Scout. Bennett was CEO of Bennett Oil Co. in Prescott for 23 years. He is on the Board of Directors of Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Goodyear. He works with companies involved in hydroponic farming and energy efficient building systems. He served as Arizona secretary of state from 2009 to 2015, and in the state Senate from 1999 to 2007 — the last four years as president of the Senate. He also served on the State Board of Education, including two years as president of the board, and on the State Board for Charter Schools and the Prescott City Council.

Doug Ducey
Born in Toledo, Ohio, Doug Ducey came to Arizona in 1982 to attend Arizona State University, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in finance. After graduation, he worked for Procter & Gamble and ultimately landed at Cold Stone Creamery, where he helped grow the small company to one with more than 1,440 locations around the world. He and his partners sold the company in 2007.
Ducey was elected governor in 2014. Before that, he was the state treasurer.
Ducey took a $1 billion deficit in his first year as governor and balanced the budget without raising taxes.
He led a bipartisan effort to inject $3.5 billion into Arizona’s K-12 schools, helping boost teacher pay and put more money in the classroom without raising taxes.
He’s cut regulations and has reduced taxes every year.
He also launched Arizona’s Border Strike Force, a partnership with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies to enhance security along Arizona’s southern border, targeting drug cartels and human traffickers.
He and his administration have worked to reduce/eliminate the backlog of untested rape kits, and have taken proactive measures to help people fight drug addiction.
He and his wife, Angela, live in Paradise Valley with their three sons, Jack, Joe and Sam.

Secretary of State


Mark Robert Gordon
For 26 years, Mark Robert Gordon, an Arizona native and lifelong Phoenix resident, has designed, ran and participated in election integrity programs nationwide. A voting rights/civil rights and entertainment attorney, his Washington, D.C., office provides nonpartisan, federal law advice to governments, candidates, political parties and nonprofits. Gordon has provided hundreds of pro bono hours for nonprofits, arts and civil rights/anti-discrimination matters. He recently served as elections specialist on the Maricopa County Recorder’s bipartisan transition team and election protection lawyer for Georgia’s congressional runoff and Virginia’s general election. He is Arizona Democratic Law Professionals Association’s co-chair and Maricopa County Democratic Party’s Election Integrity Chair. His history in politics dates from 1980s’ roles with Carolyn Warner’s gubernatorial run and Congressman Morris Udall’s office. He has a long stage and screen career as an actor/writer/director/producer and heads a nonprofit off-Broadway theater company partnering with charities serving at-risk LGBTQ youths, AIDS/HIV outreach, Hispanic, and holocaust-related causes. Gordon attended Phoenix public schools (Osborn School District, Central High), and graduated from Princeton University (public and international affairs/Afro-American studies), Columbia Law and Harvard University (Kennedy School of Government). He is a board member of Friends of Phoenix Public Art.

Katie Hobbs
Katie Hobbs is a state senator in her third term, serving her second term as the Senate minority leader. Before being elected to the Senate, she served one term in the Arizona House of Representatives. She is from Phoenix and has a Bachelor of Social Work degree from Northern Arizona University and a Master of Social Work degree from Arizona State University. She has been a professional social worker since 1992. Before being elected to the Legislature, she worked in the areas of domestic violence, behavioral health and homelessness. Hobbs has served on several commissions with the city of Phoenix and Maricopa County; was involved with her professional organization, the Arizona Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers; and is an adjunct faculty member for social work at both Arizona State University and Paradise Valley Community College. She is a graduate of Valley Leadership’s Leadership Institute (2003), Emerge Arizona’s political training program (2004) and the Center for Progressive Leadership’s Political Leaders Fellowship program (2007). She has been married to Pat Goodman for 22 years and they have two children: Sam, 19, and Hannah, 16.

Leslie Pico
As a freshman in high school, Leslie Pico took a job as a fast-food worker for The Green Burrito. She left The Green Burrito to take a position as a part-time receptionist. At the age of 17, she took on the role of office manager for a wholesale computer company.

She maintained a career in operations and sales operations with roles up to the director level for a cumulative 9.5 years. At 26, she went to school for programming and system analysis and opened her own consultancy, Pacific So. West. She has helped small business owners in everything from increasing operational efficiencies to technical efforts such as cloud migrations, salesforce CRM implementations, and front-end web development projects.
She completed undergraduate coursework at Estrella Mountain Community College and achieved honor society status with Phi Theta Kappa. She also completed undergraduate coursework with Northern Arizona University. At 28, she enrolled in the HBX Harvard Business School Credential of Readiness, the program Harvard Business School offers incoming students to prepare them for the MBA classroom.
After completion, Pico was featured on the CORE Student Spotlight on the Harvard Business School blog. Harvard went on to feature her in other marketing material, including print collateral and digital ads. She then enrolled and completed the “Leading with Finance” certification a year later.
She then became a licensed Realtor, achieving Top 10 recognition in her brokerage within seven months.
She became the first community manager at Propy and helped launch the global ambassador program, which boasts a total of 40 individuals around the world.
She was an organizer for WordCamp Phoenix 2018, which is a weekend to celebrate WordPress, build knowledge and make connections with other users.
She was a mentor for Venture Madness 2018, which is a live pitch competition presented by Invest Southwest in partnership with the Arizona Commerce Authority.
She currently is a volunteer organizer with the Phoenix Chapter of 1 Million Cups, which is a free program designed to educate, engage and connect entrepreneurs with their communities.
She runs the Phoenix Blockchain Meetup at Galvanize every six weeks with attendance upwards of 120 to 150 per event.
She is an active volunteer deputy registrar with the Maricopa County Recorder’s Office, participating in community events and naturalization ceremonies to register new voters.
Pico lives in Phoenix with her husband, David, and two daughters who both attend public schools in Phoenix.


Steve Gaynor
Steve Gaynor was born and raised in New York and has lived in Arizona for the last 37 years. He and his wife, Dorothy, have been married for 31 years. They have three children, all of whom have attended Arizona State University and live in the Phoenix metro area. After graduating from Harvard Business School, Gaynor worked in a number of industries before purchasing a small printing company in west Phoenix in 1988. In the early 2000s, he bought a printing plant in Denver and started one in Los Angeles. By 2007, the company had grown to 350 employees and $50 million in sales. That year, he sold the Denver and Phoenix plants, and he still owns but does not operate the commercial printing plant in Los Angeles. During his almost 40 years in business, he has gained experience in manufacturing (especially printing related), information technology, business law and accounting. He has also invested in real estate, publicly traded securities and early-stage companies. He has contributed to many Republican candidates and sitting Republican senators, including Tom Cotton, Steve Daines, Ron Johnson and Pat Toomey. He has also supported all of the Republican members of Arizona’s congressional delegation and Gov. Doug Ducey’s re-election campaign.

Michele Reagan
Michele Reagan was elected as secretary of state in 2014.
She moved to Arizona from the south suburbs of Chicago in 1991, and opened FASTSIGNS in Phoenix.
Reagan’s career in public service has spanned more than a decade in both houses of the Legislature. She was named chair of the Commerce Committee in the House, and later, chair of the Economic Development and Jobs Creation Committee in the Senate. She was also chair of the first Senate Elections Committee.
She has earned numerous awards and accolades, including: Small Business Guardian from the National Federation of Independent Business, the Eye of the Eagle Award from the Arizona Small Business Association and one of the 50 most Influential Women in Arizona by AZBusiness Magazine in 2013.
She serves on the Lieutenant Governors Association’s Board representing the Western states. She also serves on the Advisory Boards of Childhelp USA and Worldly Kids.
She is a graduate of Illinois State University and was named by the Aspen Institute to its Rodel Fellowship, a program designed to bring together elected officials who have demonstrated an outstanding ability to work responsibly across partisan divisions and bring greater civility to public discourse.
She is married and has a step-daughter.

Attorney General


January Contreras
January Contreras was a county and state prosecutor before founding a legal aid organization to protect Arizona’s women, children and families.
She was a deputy county attorney for the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office, and an assistant attorney general.
She fought against special interests to fend off cuts to health care insurance when she worked as a policy adviser to Gov. Janet Napolitano and as assistant director to the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS).
She founded the nonprofit Arizona Legal Women and Youth Services (ALWAYS) to provide children and young adults who have experienced trauma, homelessness and the foster care system access to lawyers.

At the Department of Homeland Security, Contreras led the charge to establish the Council on Combating Violence Against Women. She has served on the White House Council on Women and Girls; contributed to the development of the U.S. National Action Plan on Women, Peace, and Security; and volunteered on the Board of Directors of the Arizona Coalition to End Sexual and Domestic Violence.
She is a fourth-generation Arizonan. She attended Ann Ott Elementary School in Phoenix before moving to Mesa and graduating from Westwood High School. She earned her undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Arizona in Tucson.
She has been married for 23 years and has two teenage sons.


Mark Brnovich
Mark Brnovich was elected attorney general in 2014. He previously served as director of the Arizona Department of Gaming, as an assistant U.S. attorney for the District of Arizona, and as an assistant attorney general with the state. He has also been a judge pro tem of Maricopa County Superior Court, deputy Maricopa County attorney, command staff judge advocate in the U.S. Army National Guard, and director of the Center for Constitutional Government at the Goldwater Institute.
He has argued at the United States Supreme Court regarding voter redistricting; was featured on the CBS talk show “60 Minutes” in defense of capital punishment; and appeared on Times Square’s billboards to combat human sex trafficking.
Most recently, he was honored by the National Federation of Independent Business as a “Champion of Small Businesses.”
Brnovich’s family moved from Detroit to Arizona in the 1960s. He grew up in Phoenix and attended public schools from first grade through high school. He was a paper boy for several years for both the Arizona Republic and Phoenix Gazette. He went on to graduate cum laude from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in political science. He graduated from law school in 1991 from the University of San Diego and returned to Arizona. He also served in the Army National Guard.
He has also previously served as the director of the Goldwater Institute’s Center for Constitutional Government, and authored numerous studies, articles and briefs advocating for free markets and individual liberty. He also served as a senior director for the Corrections Corp. of America.
He and his wife, Susan, have two children, who attend charter schools in Phoenix.

State Treasurer


Mark Manoil
Mark Manoil is a 30-year attorney born and raised in Phoenix and a graduate of Stanford University and Arizona State University’s law school and business school with a master’s in business administration. He has worked in banking, real estate and property tax enforcement, writing a legal reference book on the last subject and co-chairing a blight-remediation committee for the city of Phoenix.


Jo Ann Sabbagh
Jo Ann Sabbagh moved to Tucson from Toledo in 1997.
She has worked in public accounting for more than 30 years, and started her own public accounting firm in 2004. In addition, she became a national professional speaker for CheckPoint Learning (formerly Gear Up Seminars), a Thomson Reuters Tax & Accounting subsidiary from 2009 through 2016.
She served as Campaign Committee treasurer for the Republican Party for more than 17 years for candidates ranging from the Arizona Legislature and Arizona Corporation Commission to the United States Congress.
She is a past president of the Arizona Association of Accounting & Tax Professionals (formerly Arizona Society of Practicing Accountants), and past governance chair of the National Society of Practicing Accountants. She is currently serving as the vice president of the Southern Arizona Chapter Enrolled Agents.
She serves on the Board of Directors for the Fox Tucson Theatre and as a mentor and instructor with Start Up Tucson. She participates in the annual Tucson Unified School District Love of Reading Program, a weeklong program designed to encourage K-12 students to read by inviting local celebrities and business owners to read to classrooms.
Since 1997, she had been involved in serving as an active member of various tax and accounting professional organizations. She has served on boards of directors and held officer positions since 1998. She is a retired national continuing education speaker.
She has served as the governor’s appointee to the State of Arizona Real Estate Advisory Board and as National Federation of Independent Businesses’ appointee to the Arizona Department of Economic Security discussion panel.
She is the president of Sabbagh Tax & Accounting LLC.
She earned her bachelor’s degree through the University of Toledo’s College of Business Administration, majoring in accounting.
She has earned the Federal License of Enrolled Agent issued by the Internal Revenue Service demonstrating her knowledge of income tax and accounting.

Kimberly Yee
Kimberly Yee is the first Asian American woman elected to serve in the Arizona Legislature and the second woman to serve as Senate majority leader in Arizona’s history, following U.S. Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, who served the position in 1973. Born and raised in Arizona, Yee is a graduate of Pepperdine University. She holds a master’s degree in public administration from Arizona State University. She served in the administrations of two Republican governors and on the executive team of Arizona State Treasurer Dean Martin. She has previously worked for the Senate Committee on Education, the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office and the U.S. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. She was named one of the nation’s “25 Most Influential Women in State Politics” by Congressional Quarterly’s Roll Call, the leading media organization covering Congress.

Superintendent of Public Instruction


Kathy Hoffman
Kathy Hoffman works as a speech therapist in the Peoria Unified School District and has spent her entire professional career in public schools. Her educational background includes a Japanese immersion program. She studied Japanese and Spanish in college. She taught preschool in Tucson. She completed a master’s degree in speech-language pathology at the University of Arizona.

David Schapira
David Schapira began his career as a high school teacher and later taught at Arizona State University. For the last four years, he has worked as a high school administrator at the East Valley Institute of Technology, a public school district offering career and technical education to students in Eastern Maricopa County. Schapira was elected to Tempe City Council in 2014. Before then, he served in the Arizona House of Representatives and as minority leader in the state Senate. Throughout his time in the Legislature, he served on the Education Committee, including four years as the ranking member. During and after his time in the Senate, he was also an elected member of the Tempe Union High School District Governing Board. He has a master’s degree in education leadership from ASU. Schapira and his wife live in Tempe with their two daughters.


Bob Branch
Bob Branch has held the administrative positions of campus director, dean of education, chair of School of Business and dean of technology. He has developed master of business administration programs at two regionally accredited universities, and has developed more than 25 graduate and 30 undergraduate level courses in business, leadership, cyberlaw and information technology.
He is an expert in Higher Learning Commission, Association of Collegiate Business Schools Programs accreditation procedures. He is an award-winning speaker, lecturer and author on the topics of leadership, business and information technology, and earned his doctorate in organization and management with a specialization in information systems management. He has more than 35 years of experience in information technology. Starting in the United States Air Force, repairing and maintaining cryptographic computers, Branch moved to chip design, sales and marketing, database development, and then moved into corporate owner. He is the current commissioner of Maricopa County Parks and Recreation, District 4, now in his third term.

Diane Douglas
Diane Douglas was elected superintendent of public instruction in 2014.
During her first term, Common Core was repealed and replaced. She implemented expansion in options for parental choice of their children’s school, brought broadband access to rural school districts, added services to Native American students, and successfully advocated for expanded education funding for better teacher salaries.
She served two terms on the Peoria Unified School District Governing Board, including two years as president of the board. She has also served on the Site Councils for two Peoria Unified schools and on the Board of Education for church education programs.
She graduated from Rutgers University and was a financial expert for a variety of private sector firms.

Jonathan Gelbart

Born and raised in northwest Phoenix, Jonathan Gelbart attended schools in the Washington Elementary School District and Deer Valley Unified School District for his entire childhood. He graduated second in his class of 400 at Barry Goldwater High School and went on to attend Stanford University. At Stanford, he earned his bachelor’s degree and a separate master’s degree in engineering, all in four and a half years. After graduating, he returned to the Phoenix area and settled in Tempe. He joined BASIS Charter Schools, where he was the director of Charter School Development for more than three years. During that time, he managed the opening of 15 BASIS campuses which, as of fall 2017, will serve more than 8,000 Arizona children.
He is a Flinn-Brown Fellow and serves on the Sandra Day O’Connor Institute’s Millennial Council as well as the Tempe Neighborhood Advisory Commission.
He and his wife, Cara, live in Tempe.

Tracy Livingston
Tracy Livingston is a K-12 teacher with 16 years of experience in the classroom; board member of the Maricopa Community College Governing Board; and a former board member of Peoria Unified School District. She is a student of the Montessori philosophy of curriculum. After getting her feet wet in the classroom teaching a combined class of gifted first- and second-graders, in 1991, Livingston moved to Arizona and went back to school to attain her master’s degree in education from Arizona State University and start her career in Buckeye as a second-grade teacher in a class made up largely of English language learners.
She then taught in the Deer Valley Unified School District, and most recently Dysart Unified at Dysart High School.
Livingston has also served as an elected Republican precinct committeeman in Legislative District 22 since 2011.
She and her husband, David, live in Peoria and have one son, Kyle, who is an EMT in Prescott.

Frank Riggs
Frank Riggs has been an elected public school district member/president; president of a statewide, accredited, online charter school; and U.S. congressman and chairman of the House Education Subcommittee. He authored legislation on special education, career-technical education and charter schools, and was recognized for his dedication to children with disabilities.
He is the former CEO of a national, award-winning education nonprofit, and a teacher and coach. He’s an Army veteran and former police officer.He graduated summa cum laude from Golden Gate University and received the “Associates Award” as the “Outstanding Graduate in the College of Business & Public Administration.”
He has been married to Cathy for 38 years, and has three children and five grandchildren.

State Mine Inspector


William Pierce
William Pierce grew up and attended college in Michigan. He started his engineering career with the Testing and Research Division of the Michigan Department of Transportation. One of his main duties was to supervise the mining and crushing of rock used in highway construction.
He eventually joined a consulting engineering firm, where his scope widened to include all aspects of construction quality control, from raw materials testing to finished product.
He moved to Arizona in 1985, and specialized in large infrastructure projects, including highways, bridges, tunnels, airports and military bases. He also supervised an EPA leaching pad for the mining industry.
Pierce is Mine Safety & Health Administration certified; Occupational Safety & Health Administration certified; EPA trained in erosion control and groundwater protection; and Nuclear Regulatory Commission certified.


Joe Hart
Joe Hart is the state mine inspector. During his time in office, hundreds of abandoned mines have been permanently sealed and many more have been fenced and posted to advise the public of their danger.
He is a fourth-generation Arizonan and a lifetime resident of Kingman.
He served in the Arizona House of Representatives for 10 years, including a term as speaker pro tempore, as well as serving as the chairman of several committees such as Public Institutions and Universities, Environment and Government Operations. In addition, he served as the chairman of the Subcommittee for Appropriations.
During his time at the Arizona Legislature, he championed the Abandoned Mine Safety Fund legislation and supported legislation to require mining operations to be reclaimed for post-mining uses.
He worked at the Duval Mining Corp. for 20 years. During his tenure, he worked in many aspects of the mining industry, including time as safety supervisor. He has also worked in the broadcasting industry, Hart to Hart Trucking and Black Mountain Cattle Co.
He has been a member of the Environment Committee; member of the Judiciary Committee; member of the Rules Committee; member of the Natural Resources Committee; chairman of the Natural Resource Committee - Counsel State Governments West; member of the Ways & Means Committee; and has been involved with the Navajo Code Talker Memorial Foundation.
He is currently active in the following organizations: National Association of Program; Arizona Farm Bureau Association; Bullhead Chamber of Commerce; Council of State Governments West; Kingman Merchants; Lake Havasu Chamber of Commerce; People for the United States of America; and Mining Advisory Council.
He has been married to Rhonda for 43 years and has four daughters and 10 grandchildren.

Corporation Commissioner


Sandra Kennedy
Sandra Kennedy was elected in 2008 to the Corporation Commission. In 2013, Kennedy made headlines when she formally challenged Commission Chair Gary Pierce about Arizona Public Service Co. helping run his son for secretary of state. She ran for Corporation Commission in 2014, and was narrowly defeated. She started her public service when she was elected to the Arizona House of Representatives in November 1986, when she served for six years before successfully becoming a state senator in 1992. She served three terms as state senator. While she was serving in the Legislature, she was elected to serve on the Phoenix Union High School Governing Board for a four-year term in 1990.

William Mundell
William Mundell was a corporation commissioner from 1999 to 2009. While he served as commission chair, the commission made Arizona one of the first states to require utilities to generate a percentage of their electricity from renewable sources.
Mundell presided over the Chandler Municipal Court for six years before serving in the state House for six years. As chair of the House Environment Committee, he sponsored numerous pieces of legislation protecting Arizona’s environment, including the state’s first recycling law, a law preventing Arizona from becoming the nation’s dumping ground for hazardous waste and a law protecting the Phoenix Mountain Preserves. Later, as director of the Registrar of Contractors for six years, he reduced license fees while increasing consumer protections.

Mundell grew up in Arizona and graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in political science. He received a juris doctor degree from St. Mary’s University School of Law in San Antonio.
He is married to Barbara and has two daughters.

Kiana Maria Sears
Kiana Maria Sears grew up in New Orleans and moved to Arizona in 1995.
She is a community advocate, engaged Arizona State University Sun Devil, nonprofit community leader, and an Arizona seasoned public policy professional.
For nearly a decade, Sears has worked in a legislative staff capacity, most recently serving as a water & wastewater executive consultant (public utility analyst) for the Arizona Corporation Commission. In that position, Sears became an expert in utilities operations and statute, analyzing complex data and testifying as an expert in Arizona Corporation Commission hearings on Certificates of Convenience and Necessity; mainline extension agreements; water and wastewater; telecom; solar; adjudications; and rulemaking procedures.
She holds a master’s degree in public administration and is co-author of Arizona’s Safe Baby Haven Law.
She has worked with organizations such as the American Lung Association, Mesa School Board, Children’s Action Alliance, United Way, State Employees Charitable Campaign and Fresh Start Women’s Foundation.


Tom Forese
Tom Forese currently serves as the chairman of the Arizona Corporation Commission and previously represented the East Valley at the Arizona Legislature from 2010 to 2014. There, he served as chairman of the Commerce Committee, chairman of the Higher Education Committee, chairman of the International Relations Committee and as a member of the Appropriations Committee.
He and his wife, Casey, have four children and live in the Southeast Valley.

Rodney Glassman
Rodney Glassman is an attorney, GOP precinct committeeman and a major in the United States Air Force JAG Corps Reserve.
While earning his doctorate in arid land resource sciences (water) from the University of Arizona, he was elected to the Tucson City Council. While on the City Council, he helped write and pass the nation’s first mandatory rainwater harvesting ordinance for new commercial development; gray-water plumbing ordinance for new home construction; and solar-powered water heating ordinance for new homes.
After graduating from UofA, he moved to Phoenix where he continued to do legal work and advocate on issues related to education and natural resource management.
He has volunteered in leadership roles with nonprofit organizations such as the Grand Canyon Council Boy Scouts of America, Arizona State Farm Bureau and Arizona Foundation for Legal Services & Education.
He became an Eagle Scout at age 13.
He’s pro-life, pro-2nd Amendment and pro-secure borders.
He’s married and has two daughters. He and his wife have co-authored and distributed more than 225,000 free children’s books to kindergartners across Arizona through the “Jeremy Jackrabbit” book series.

James O’Connor
James O’Connor has 42 years of experience in finance, responsible for regulatory compliance, investment portfolio management and enterprise leadership. He advised the California state Senate on rewriting investment law.
He has served for 10 years on the Board of Grace Line Ministries, a nonprofit Christian mentoring organization. He took four years of enrichment studies at Phoenix Seminary and is a partner at Pinnacle Forum in Phoenix.
He has served as presidential elector for Donald Trump and Mike Pence; president of the Arizona Republican Assembly; Legislative District chairman; member of the Maricopa County Executive Guidance Committee; candidate for AZGOP state party chairman; and Arizona GOP member at large.

Justin Olson
Justin Olson was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2010. Olson has always held full-time employment in the private sector while serving his constituents as a lawmaker. Olson is a tax analyst. Recognitions include “Champion of the Taxpayer” by Americans for Prosperity, an “A” rating by the National Rifle Association, and a “Champion of Small Business” by the National Federation of Independent Business.
He is a lifelong resident of Mesa where he and his wife, Karyn, are raising their children.

Eric Sloan
Eric Sloan is a small business owner, husband of nine years, and father to a 6-year-old.
He has lived in Arizona for 25 years. He is a Republican Precinct committeeman in Legislative District 24.
He is a founding member of the Blue Blazers Squadron at Luke Air Force Base and is an active member of his church.
