Hello, Peoria! Welcome to Business Briefcase, a brief weekly report on business news to keep readers updated on all the great happenings around the city. News will include construction, grand openings/unveilings, closings, networking-centric events for people to mingle within the business community, and plenty other business-related activities. Peoria is a thriving city, so there’s always something new going on.

Some weeks may bring about networking events, and some weeks may be filled with grand openings and ribbon-cutting ceremonies. It all just depends, but everything will be business related. This week brings with it several recent ribbon-cutting ceremonies, a networking event and a fiesta! Here’s the news!

First, Destiny Martial Arts Academy held a ribbon cutting and grand opening on May 4, and is officially in business. Located at 13644 N. 75th Avenue, Suite 104, Destiny practices Tang Soo Do, a style of martial arts. Next up, The Rush Fun Park had a ribbon cutting last month, and welcomes families to come in and enjoy the facility. The fun park is located at 6817 W. Peoria Avenue. Attractions include a rock wall, an indoor playground, super slides, an arcade and lots of trampolines. More recently, Vinny’s Italian Sports Grill had a ribbon-cutting ceremony, too. The menu has a wide selection of appetizers, pastas, pizzas, flatbreads/calzones, subs/burgers, salads and desserts. Located at 8267 W. Lake Pleasant Road, Vinny’s welcomes all families, sports teams and couples to come out and enjoy a meal. From 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, June 20, Revolu Modern Taqueria + Bar, located at 15703 N. 83rd Avenue, will host a Peoria Chamber of Commerce mixer for businesses to mix, mingle and network. Get your calendars ready and attend the One Step Beyond Inc. (OSBI) “Vive La Fiesta” from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 28. Presented by OSBI’s culinary program, the event will include live entertainment, OSBI artwork, a silent auction, a 50/50 raffle, a selfie station, and a cash bar featuring margaritas. Adult tickets are $30 and children tickets are $15. For a table of eight, the cost is $200, which saves groups $40. “Vive La Fiesta” will be located at 8866 W. Thunderbird Road, in the Riverside Room. To purchase tickets, go to osbi.org/events.
