A suspect is in custody after a 17-year-old Glendale man was killed at the Circle K at 6735 W. Peoria Avenue on July 4.
Elijah Alamin was stabbed at 1:45 a.m. and was pronounced dead at a hospital. Officers arrived on scene and within minutes located the suspect, Michael Adams, 27. The weapon was recovered, Peoria police said.
Preliminary information shows Alamin was stabbed in the neck in the store. The suspect then left on foot. Officers and fire personnel responded to the scene and attempted life-saving measures and paramedics transported Alamin to a local hospital.
According to published reports, Adams told police he felt threatened by Alamin’s rap music. Adams has been booked into Fourth Avenue Jail on murder charges.
“We are committed to detailed and complete investigations, and we will determine why this violent act occurred,” said Peoria Police Chief Art Miller in a statement.
“On behalf of the men and women of the Peoria Police Department we extend our deepest condolences to the family and friends of the victim.”
