Benevilla will soon expand its outreach in the West Valley by opening a workspace July 1 at the city of Peoria’s new Community Assistance Resource Center.

Benevilla will begin services in the office by providing the Family Resource Center (FRC) program from 8 a.m. to noon Fridays.

A partnership with Peoria’s Community Assistance Division of the Neighborhood and Human Services Department, it is located at 8335 W. Jefferson Street.

The Benevilla Family Resource Center will be dedicated to helping parents prepare their children to stay in school healthy and ready to succeed. With these services directly in Peoria, the local community will have access to the following programs: community services information and referral, health insurance application, imagination station literacy events, purposeful play groups, school readiness kits and presentations and the Benevilla Kinship Program.

“Benevilla is very thankful to the city of Peoria for this wonderful opportunity to expand our reach and offer our services to even more community members needing help in the West Valley,” said Joanne Thomson, president and CEO of Benevilla.

Benevilla currently has two program locations in Peoria.

The West Valley Life Enrichment Day Program at The Church at Cactus is located at 8133 W. Cactus Road.

This program works with stroke survivors, those with Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s/dementia and other adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This highly interactive program aids a diverse group of people with a wide range of care needs. Activities are adapted for specific physical challenges to include everyone’s participation. Members have the best of all worlds: a socially inviting, club-like atmosphere with the support of amazing professionals and dedicated volunteers focused on the personal needs of each member.

A second office housing the free Home Services Program and the FRC Program is located on the main floor of the Peoria Library. Free home services are available to homebound seniors in the community, including access to assisted transportation, grocery shopping, friendly visitors, phone pals, light handyman services and business assistance.
