State Trailer opening

Peoria Economic Development Director Scott Whyte, Mayor Cathy Carlat, and State RV Supply owner Ray Hult are all smiles grand opening day of the large RV supply and service center in the old Walmart store.

It’s been a long time coming, but State RV Supply finally held its grand opening at 8200 W. Peoria Ave., in the renovated old Walmart store downtown.

Peoria Economic Development Director Scott Whyte said, “We’ve been trying to refurbish this for more than four years. What made it special was Ray Hult (owner). He brings a passion for not only bringing a quality project, but being part of the community.

“It worked well with the conomic development strategy for Old Town.”

Whyte said what was special about the project to him was the fact that the store was “all about a stakeholder in Old Town.”

“It’s a great project, a great store, but he’s a champion for Old Town and we need those,” Whyte said. “I’m hopeful also this shows other property owners that this revitalization will work for them. So, please apply.”

Hult said the location in Peoria was a great one because of so many RV owners in the area. And, he also said he had never seen such a receptive attitude by city officials.

The location is so good, in fact, Hult said his company considers it an anchor store. He has another store in the works for Mesa, but the Peoria store is, by far, the largest.
