Did you know that one in three children is physically active every day, according to the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition? It is recommended that children need 60 minutes a day of physical activity.

To help give kids that opportunity, Rio Vista Recreation Center is introducing a new fitness program for kids ages 8 to 12 years called Rio R.E.A.C.H. for Fitness. Sponsored by St. Joseph’s Westgate Medical Center, the new program will debut Jan. 20 and will include fitness classes, a Mighty Mountain Challenge at the Climbing Wall, Step It Up Rio walk/run incentive program at the walking track, and more.

The program is included with a family pass. Family involvement is key to the success and family members are encouraged to participate in special events and fitness classes. For more information, contact Rio Vista Recreation Center at 623-773-8600, or visit www.peoriaaz.gov/riovista.
