With schools around the Valley resuming sessions, parents are out in droves shopping for their children’s school supplies.
However, parents aren’t the only ones shelling out for paper, pencils, binders and more. According to a report from Scholastic, teachers spend an average of $530 of their own money each year on classroom supplies like notebooks, pencils, tissue, snacks and bulletin board decorations.
For the second year in a row, APS has opened up its Supply My Class 2.0 contest to allow K-12 teachers at schools in APS service territory an opportunity to enter for a chance to win a $500 Visa gift card to be used for school supplies. Fifty teachers will be randomly selected as award winners each Friday through August 9. Since the program kicked off July 15, 100 teachers from across Arizona have received or been notified of their award. By the conclusion of the program, 200 teachers will have been awarded a $500 gift card to directly support their efforts in the classroom.
To date, three teachers from Peoria have been awarded the gift card.
Eligible teachers may enter the awards program online at supplymyclass.com until 11:59 p.m. (Arizona time) today, Thursday, August 8, with the final selections being made Friday, August 9.
