June 7, the American Legion Arrowhead-John E. Ford III Post #144 in north Glendale presented Glendale Police Officer Ryan Winfield with its Officer of the Year 2017-18 award.
Winfield said, “I’m humbled and thankful to be recognized by such a great group of people. I’m proud to represent the Glendale Police Department for this award and I’m thankful for the American Legion Post 144 for recognizing me as their Officer of the Year.”
Police Commander Colby Brandt said, “It is always nice to be recognized by our community. But for me, as a veteran myself, this is something a little more special in the fact that you guys have all sacrificed so much of your own for your country and for your community, so we want to thank you as well. Thank you for having us.”
Regarding Winfield’s award, Brandt said he is “still bringing it every single day.”
Winfield has about 60 days before he retires after 20-plus years of service.
Ryan Winfield’s father, Richard Winfield, said he appreciated the recognition the city of Glendale and the community have given his son. He said such recognition is “refreshing and good to see.”
